
Men’s Golf Finishes in Third Place at Calusa Cup

NAPLES, Fla. – The No. 10-ranked UCLA men's golf team finished in third place out of nine teams on Tuesday afternoon at the three-day Calusa Cup, hosted at Calusa Pines Golf Club.
Florida won the tournament title, finishing at 17-under 847, one stroke ahead of second-place Louisville (16-under 868). UCLA posted a team score of 1-under 863, followed by fourth-place Purdue (4-over 868) and fifth-place Wake Forest (16-over 880).
LSU, Virginia, Miami University (Ohio) and Iowa rounded out the final four competitors, respectively.
UCLA junior Kyle An tied with two other golfers for seventh place (2-under 214), the strongest individual finish of the five Bruins competing at Calusa Pines Golf Club. An, along with seniors Pablo Ereño and Omar Morales, shot 3-under 69 on the final day of the tournament.
An, Ereño and Morales had their best scores of the tournament on Tuesday afternoon. Ereño finished the tournament at even par, having carded scores of 1-over 73 on Sunday and 2-over 74 on Monday. He tied with four other golfers for a 10th-place finish at the Calusa Cup (even par, 216).
Freshman Baylor Larrabee tied for 16th place, finishing the tournament at 2-over 218. After carding 2-under 70 on Sunday and even par (72) on Monday, Larrabee closed round three at 4-over 76.
Morales concluded the three-day event at 6-over 222, while sophomore Luke Powell finished 8-over 224. Morales and Powell registered their strongest performances on Tuesday, with Powell carding even par (72) in the final round.
UCLA will return to action later this week, competing at the Thunderbird Collegiate in Phoenix, hosted at Papago Club Course (Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12).

NAPLES, Fla. – The Bruins shot 4-over 292 for the second consecutive day at the Calusa Cup on Monday, finishing in fourth place out of nine teams at Calusa Pines Golf Club.
Through two rounds, UCLA has carded 8-over 584. Louisville (5-under 571) stands in first place after the opening two rounds, while Florida (even, 576), Purdue (6-over 582) and UCLA (8-over 584) round out the top four schools. The Bruins currently maintain a nine-stroke lead over fifth place LSU (17-over 593).
For the second straight afternoon, freshman Baylor Larrabee had the Bruins' strongest individual performance. Larrabee carded even par (72) on Monday, after having shot 2-under 70 in the first round on Sunday. He enters Tuesday's final round at 2-under 142, tied for third place.
Junior Kyle An shot even par (72) on Monday, as well, staying within the top 10 on the individual leaderboard. An has carded 1-over 145 through the tournament's opening two rounds.
Senior Pablo Ereño and sophomore Luke Powell finished at 2-over 74 on Monday, while senior Omar Morales carded 5-over 77 in the second round.
Ereño is currently tied for 17th place on the individual leaderboard, having shot 1-over 73 on Monday.
Larrabee, who finished 2-under 70 on Sunday afternoon, totaled five birdies and five bogeys to finish at even par on Monday. Through the back nine holes on Monday, Larrabee birdied holes 14 and 15 before a bogey on hole 16.
The Bruins will return to action with the third round on Tuesday, scheduled to start at 5 a.m. PT (8 a.m. ET in Florida). UCLA will begin the final round from the first hole.

Louisville (4-under 284) and Florida (2-over 290) were in first and second place after the opening round, respectively.
Three Bruins posted top-10 finishes on the first day of action. Freshman Baylor Larrabee led the way for UCLA, carding 2-under 70 in the first round. Larrabee is tied with three other individuals in second place after the opening day.
Junior Kyle An and senior Pablo Ereño each shot 1-over 73 to finish in a tie for 10th place.
Senior Omar Morales finished 4-over 76 and sophomore Luke Powell shot 6-over 78.
Larrabee totaled seven birdies and five bogeys through the tournament's first 18 holes. He concluded the afternoon with birdies on four of the final six holes (holes No. 13, 14, 17 and 18).
An registered four birdies, three bogeys and one double bogey on Sunday. Ereño totaled two birdies, four bogeys and an eagle on the 18th hole (par 5).
