Women's Tennis Trio Receives Academic All-District® Recognition

May 14, 2025 | Women's Tennis

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The UCLA women's tennis team had three student-athletes garner Academic All-District® recognition from the College Sports Communicators (CSC) for 2024-25, it was announced Tuesday. Ahmani Guichard, Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer and Elise Wagle were recognized, with Lutkemeyer moving forward to the national ballot for Academic All-America® consideration.

A nominee must be at least a sophomore, academically and athletically, with a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.50 or better. Graduate student-athletes are required to meet the 3.50 threshold as undergraduate and graduate students. CSC will publish its Academic All-America® list on Tuesday, June 3.

Guichard starred in doubles play alongside Lutkemeyer, reaching No. 28 in the ITA rankings. The pair went 28-10 (16-6 in dual matches) and clinched six doubles points. During the fall, Guichard/Lutkemeyer went 7-3 against nationally-ranked tandems. Guichard's standout singles moment came on the biggest stage, as she was the last player standing in an NCAA Championship second-round upset of host and 15th-seeded Vanderbilt. The sophomore from Seminole, Fla. fought off two match points in her third-set tiebreaker to win.

In addition to her doubles success with Guichard, Lutkemeyer was a singles standout. She notched a 27-10 record, including a 14-6 dual-match mark. A majority of her decisions came on Court 1, where she was 10-4. Lutkemeyer, a junior from Irvine, Calif., is currently No. 31 in the ITA singles rankings and has reached No. 16. The All-Big Ten First Team selection posted three top-50 singles wins in dual-match action and went 13-7 overall versus nationally-ranked foes. Lutkemeyer's breakout began during individual play, when she qualified for her first NCAA Championship singles draw.

Wagle, a senior from Niskayuna, N.Y., also made her NCAA singles debut during the fall. She qualified for the doubles field with partner Kimmi Hance, as well. Wagle was a consistent force on both sides, posting a 21-10 singles record (14-5 in dual matches) and a 20-8 doubles mark (14-5). She has made top-50 appearances in the ITA singles and doubles rankings, climbing to No. 6 with Hance. Wagle was named Big Ten Player of the Week after clinching the Bruins' 4-2 victory against No. 18 California and later earned a spot on the Big Ten All-Tournament Team.
