UCLA Women’s Basketball Signs Christina Karamouzi
July 08, 2025 | Women's Basketball
LOS ANGELES – UCLA Women's Basketball welcomes Swedish guard Christina Karamouzi, The Michael Price Family UCLA Women's Head Basketball Coach Cori Close announced Tuesday.
"Christina has got a passion for making winning plays and making people better," said Close. "If she needs to dive on the floor for an extra possession, she's going to do that. If she needs to come alongside a teammate who's struggling, she's going to do that. If she needs to set a great screen, she's going to do that. If she needs to hit a big-time three, she's going to do that."
Karamouzi most recently represented Sweden at the Scania Cup G19 competition. She went 4-2 with Fryshuset Basket in the international competition, finishing fifth overall – 12 teams from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden competed in the tournament. The combo guard averaged 8.8 points per contest in five games played. She previously made an appearance with Sweden's youth national team at the FIBA U16 Women's European Championship Division B tournament in 2022.
"Christina is a person who really understands winning culture, and she's just a great human being that people are going to enjoy getting to know," said Close. "We feel like we got an absolute steal this late in the game to have Christina join our program. She's going to be a great addition to the Bruin family."
She joins a UCLA squad coming off a historic 2024-25 campaign; the Bruins achieved their first-ever No. 1 ranking in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and reached the NCAA Final Four as the No. 1 overall seed in the 2025 Women's March Madness tournament.
