UCLA Soccer Programs Receive Team Academic Awards
August 01, 2025 | Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer
LOS ANGELES – For the eight consecutive year, both the UCLA men's and women's soccer programs have earned College Team Academic Awards from the United Soccer Coaches.
UCLA was one of 161 schools, across all NCAA divisions, to have both their men's and women's teams recognized for the 2024-25 season.
The Bruin men recorded a 3.36 GPA during the most recent school year, earning the team academic award for the eighth consecutive year. UCLA has qualified for the award every year under seventh-year head coach Ryan Jorden. A total of 14 UCLA men's soccer players were named to the Academic All-Big Ten team.
The Bruin women have now earned the award in 14 consecutive seasons after posting a collective 3.26 GPA in 2024-25. It was also the sixth year in a row that the women have recorded a team GPA of 3.25 or higher. Additionally, 15 players were named to the Academic All-Big Ten team in the fall, and Lilly Reale and Sofia Cook earned Scholar All-America honors.
The United Soccer Coaches awards are designed to annually celebrate the academic achievements of teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full academic year. To qualify for the award, teams must post a team grade point average of 3.00 or higher.
Both teams will begin action next week with a pair of home exhibition contests. The Bruin men will host CSU Bakersfield on Friday, Aug. 8 at 7:30 p.m., while the women host LMU on Saturday, Aug. 9 at 6:00 p.m. Both matches are free to the public and will take place at Wallis Annenberg Stadium.
The 2025 season officially begins for the women on Thursday, Aug. 14 at Georgia. The men's season opener takes place on Thursday, Aug. 21 at UC Irvine.
