August 21, 2025 | Men's Soccer

LOS ANGELES – UCLA sophomore Sergi Solans Ormo has been named to the 2025 Hermann Trophy Watch List, it was announced by United Soccer Coaches on Thursday.

Solans Ormo is in exclusive company on the 29-man watch list. Among the recognized student-athletes, he is one of three who is a sophomore or younger, one of just eight forwards nominated, and one of three players from the Big Ten. Solans Ormo also becomes the first Bruin nominated for the award since Pietro Grassi was on the preseason watch list in 2022.

The nod from United Soccer Coaches is the latest in a series of preseason acclaim for Solans Ormo. Earlier this summer, he was named a Second Team Preseason All-American by TopDrawerSoccer, and he was also cited on the United Soccer Coaches Players to Watch list for forwards.

Solans Ormo, who was named a third-team All-America honoree while playing at Oregon State last season, led the team with 14 goals and three assists in 2024 over 16 appearances. After the year was drafted in the first round, 30th overall by Real Salt Lake in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft.

Solans Ormo had one of the best offensive seasons in Oregon State men's soccer history, earning third-team All-America honors, WCC Offensive Player of the Year and United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors in 2024. His 14 goals were tied for the fifth-highest single-season total in program history, and his 31 points were the sixth-most by a Beaver in a single year. Solans finished the year seventh in the nation in total goals, and ranked third in the country in goals per game at 0.88.

The UCLA men's soccer program begins its 2025 season today, August 21, at UC Irvine at 6:00 p.m. PT. The Bruins' home opener is scheduled for August 24, at Wallis Annenberg Stadium at 7:00 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on B1G+.
