
No. 1 UCLA Routs Redlands, 25-6

LOS ANGELES --ย No. 1 UCLA (11-0) continued its dominance this season with a 25-6 win over the University of Redlandsย on Friday afternoon at Dirks Pool at Spieker Aquatics Center. The Bruins improved to 9-0ย all-time against the Redlands Bulldogs.
UCLA had a season-high-tying 15 different players score, increasing that total to 10-of-11 games this season with double digit scorers (13 vs. Navy, 10 vs. UC Davis, 11 at UC San Diego, 10 vs. California Baptist University, 11 vs. George Washington, 10 vs. Fordham, 15 vs. Bucknell, 11 vs. Harvard, 11 vs. Pepperdine, and 15 vs. Redlands).
In the win over Redlands (1-8), sophomore Bode Brinkema scored a career-high seven points with a career-high-tying four goals (added threeย assists). Redshirt junior Vinnie Merk had a career-high-tying three goals in the today's win. Five other Bruins scored multiple goals against the Bulldogs to make it seven to have a multiple goal outing as redshirt freshman Alex Heenan, sophomores Peter Castillo and Ryder Dodd, redshirt sophomore Max Matthews and redshirt senior Chase Dodd each scored twice.
Redshirt sophomore Nate Tauscher got the starting nod and played the first quarter, tallying three saves while allowing one score. Redshirt freshman Nick Tovani played the second quarter and the first four minutes of the third quarter, registering three saves while pitching a shutout. Redshirt freshman Joey Kent came on and played the last four minutes of the third period and the entire fourth quarter, recording two saves, one steal, and one assist, while giving up four goals.
The Bruins, who have only trailed for 1:59 of 320 minutes this season,ย scored the first five goals of the game and never trailed, winning the first quarter, 5-1. The Bruins dominated the second period, 7-0, to build a 12-1 lead atย halftime. UCLA won the third period, 7-2, to take a 19-3 leadย heading into the final stanza. UCLA won the fourth period, 6-3, to provide the 25-6 final.
Up Next: The Bruins face No. 11 UC Davis in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Overnght MPSF Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 20ย at Dirks Pool at Spieker Aquatics Center. Defeat the Aggies and UCLA will face the winner of No. 4 Stanford and No. 5 Long Beach State tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. PT in the semifinals.
