Brewer Selected to U.S. Roster for 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup
September 30, 2025 | Women's Soccer
UCLA freshman defender Meila Brewer has been selected for the U.S. roster for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. The 24-team tournament takes place in Morocco from Oct. 17-Nov. 8, with a training camp taking place in Spain prior to arrival.
The USA will open the tournament against Ecuador on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 12 p.m. PT. Game two will be against China PR on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 9 a.m. PT, and the USA will finish group play against Norway on Friday, Oct. 24 at 6 a.m. PT. All three of the USA's Group C games will be played at the Football Academy Mohammed VI (Pitch 3) in Sale, which is just outside of the capital of Rabat.
The tournament has six groups of four teams each. After round-robin play within the groups, the top two teams in each group, plus the four best third-place finishers, will advance to the Round of 16, at which time the competition becomes a knockout tournament.
Brewer, who has five caps with the U.S. team, has started six games for the Bruins in 2025 and has played a key role in UCLA's league-leading eight shutouts. The Bruin defense has allowed just three goals this season and holds a 0.27 goals against average, which ranks fourth in the nation and first in the Big Ten. Brewer missed three games earlier in the season (BYU, Long Beach State and Portland) while at national team camp in Spain.
The Overland Park, Kan. native is one of seven college players on the U.S. squad. Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2008, are age-eligible for this World Cup. Brewer is also age-eligible for next year's 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
