23 Bruins Named to Active Rosters Ahead of 2025 NFL Season

The UCLA football team has 23 former standouts named to active rosters leading up to the 2025 NFL regular season, which is slated to kick off Thursday, Sept. 4 in Philadelphia.

Among the Bruins in the professional ranks are a pair of 10-year veterans in Houston Texans kicker Kai'imi Fairbairn and defensive lineman Kenny Clark, who is set to embark on his first season with the Dallas Cowboys this fall.

The Cowboys' trio of former UCLA defensive linemen โ Clark, Osa Odighizuwa and Jay Toia โ will take the field in the first game of NFL season on Thursday Night when they meet the Philadelphia Eagles at 5:20 p.m. (PT) on NBC at Lincoln Financial Field.

Then on Friday night, a pair of Bruins will suit up for the Los Angeles Chargers (OL Andre James, DL Otito Ogbonnia) in their primetime contest against AFC West division rival Kansas City at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, Brazil.

Finally, offensive tackle Alec Anderson will open his fourth season with Buffalo when the Bills host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football at 5:15 p.m. (PT) on ESPN/ABC.

Including Toia, five members of UCLA's 2024 squad are set to begin their first NFL campaigns this week. That list includes the No. 33 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft in linebacker Carson Schwesinger of the Cleveland Browns. Last week, Schwesinger was honored with the 2025 Maurice Bassett Award by the Cleveland Browns organization, which is given to the most outstanding rookie in training camp, as voted by the media. Also starting their pro careers are linebackers Ale Kaho and Kain Medrano of the Washington Commanders, linebacker Oluwafemi Oladejo of the Tennessee Titans and tight end Moliki Matavao of the New Orleans Saints.
