Bruins Beat LMU, Fall to Stanford on Day Two in Hawai’i

UCLA won the first four points in a 4-1 win over 2025 NCAA runner-up LMU. Ava Williamson and Harper continued their hot streak on court 4, winning for the third time in as many matches, 21-13, 21-12 over Ingrid Timon-Johnson/Liv Johnson for the first point. Playing for the first time together, Taylor Ford and Mallory LaBreche took the second point on court 5, beating Ellie Davis/Katie McAlister, 21-18, 21-19. Kaley Mathews and Ensley Alden clinched the dual on court 3 with a 21-18, 21-15 win over Chloe Hooker/Josefine Schaelkel, and on court 1, Sally Perez and Maggie Boyd kept their unblemished streak alive with a 22-20, 21-17 win over Tanon Rosenthal, Anna Pelloia. Alexa Fernandez and Cassie Dodd rallied to force three sets on court 2 but ultimately lost to Magdalena Rabistch/Ines Piret, 16-21, 21-18, 9-15.
The Bruins played a close match against the Cardinal, with the final two duals going to three sets. UCLA captured the first point on court 3, with Mathews/Alden taking their third win of the year, 21-15, 21-15 over Indigo Clarke/Clara Stowell. Stanford won the next two points, with Elena Fisher/Chloe Hoffman beating LaBreche and Adelina Okazaki, 21-17, 21-15, on court 5 and Avery Jackson/Brooke Rockwell downing Fernandez and Dodd, 21-19, 22-20. On court 1, Perez and Boyd rallied in the second to force a third set, but Kelly Belardi/Ruby Sorra pulled it out in the third to clinch the win, 21-16, 20-22, 15-13. Williamson and Cooper finished the match with a 21-15, 11-21, 15-12 win over Charlotta Bell/Logan Tusher to remain unbeaten on the year at 4-0.
The Bruins conclude the tournament on Saturday with dual matches against California at 11:45am PT/9:45am HT and USC at 2:15pm PT/12:15pm HT.
