February 26, 2026 | Track & Field
INDIANAPOLIS โ The UCLA track & field team scored in two events and booked a finals spot in another Thursday during the first day of the 2026 Big Ten Indoor Championships at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
It was a light schedule overall for the Bruins on day one of three at the league meet, with entries in just four events.
UCLA's women's pole vaulters got the meet off to a strong start, with a pair of Paiges scoring to get UCLA on the board in the team standings. Graduate student Paige Sommers was the Bruins' top performer, placing fourth with a maximum clearance of 4.35m (14-3.25), her second-highest of the year. Paige Echsner also brought home points for the Bruins after matching her season-best mark of 4.15m (13-7.25) to place seventh.
The Bruins closed out Thursday's events with a seventh-place finish in the men's distance medley relay. UCLA's DMR squad of Everett Capelle, Chris Paige, Arrin Sagiraju, and Jack Falkowski completed the race in 9:43.61, a season-best by any Bruin quartet so far this season.
Junior Taylor Snaer had a strong showing in the qualifying round of the women's 200m, placing third with a time of 23.29 to book a spot in Saturday's eight-runner final. It was her third-best time in that event so far this season.
Though the Bruins didn't score in the women's 600m, UCLA had strong outings from both its entries. Keilee Hall notched her second-best time of the year at 1:30.17, good for a top-10 finish. Right behind her was Kapiolani Coleman, who set a PB and moved up to No. 4 in school history at 1:31.08.
The Bruins return to action on Friday with a busy schedule that includes entries in the women's long jump, women's high jump, men's mile, men's long jump, men's weight throw, women's 400m, men's 400m, men's 60m, women's 800m, women's 60m hurdles, and men's 60m hurdles.
