Men’s Golf Finishes in 14th Place at Amer Ari Intercollegiate

KOHALA COAST, Hawaii – The No. 26-ranked UCLA men's golf team closed the Amer Ari Intercollagiate on Saturday in 14th place out of 20 teams.
The Bruins shot 23-under 841 in the 54-hole, stroke play tournament, hosted at the Mauna Lani Golf Course on the big island of Hawaii. UCLA finished the tournament two strokes behind San Jose State (25-under 839) and eight strokes shy of Oregon (31-under 833).
Auburn (77-under 787) won the team title, having carded 30-under 258 on Saturday. Following Auburn, in order were Texas, Arizona State, Texas Tech and Stanford in the top five spots.
Bruins' freshman Josh Kim had the best individual performance for UCLA, across all three days. He carded 8-under 208 with round scores of 67-71-70 (T-45th). Sophomore Baylor Larrabee finished one stroke behind Josh Kim, at 7-under 209 (T-48th).
In Sunday's third and final round, two UCLA golfers – Baylor Larrabee and Kyle An – carded 4-under 68. Josh Kim shot 2-under 70, while junior Luciano Conlan shot 1-under 71.
Competing as an individual, Logan Kim also finished the tournament in a tie for 48th place, shooting 7-under 209 with round scores of 68-70-71.
The men's golf team will return to action next month, competing at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas, Nev., from March 1-3. That tournament will take place at the Southern Highlands Golf Club.
Round Two Recap
UCLA shot 4-over 292 in the second round of action of the Amer Ari Intercollegiate on Friday afternoon, hosted at the Mauna Lani Golf Course on the big island of Hawaii.
Through two rounds, in the three-day tournament, the Bruins are sitting in 15th place out of 20 teams. UCLA shot 16-under 272 on day one. Entering the third and final day of action, UCLA is three strokes behind North Carolina and Oregon (T-13).
Bruins' freshman Josh Kim shot 1-under 71 on Friday after he carded 5-under 67 on Thursday. He will enter Saturday's final round in a tie for 33rd place, currently at 6-under 136.
Sophomore Baylor Larrabee also shot 1-under 71 on Friday in Hawaii. He finished 2-under 70 on Thursday in the opening round and has compiled a two-day score of 3-under 141.
Junior Luciano Conlan shot 2-over 74 on Friday, while sophomore Trevor Garus finished 4-over 76 and senior Kyle An shot 7-over 79.
Entering the final day of competition, Auburn (-47) leads a group of 20 teams. The second through fifth-place teams include Stanford (-44), Texas (-43), Arizona State (-42) and Texas Tech (-35).
Round One Recap
The Bruins shot 16-under 272 on the first day of the Amer Ari Intercollegiate, hosted at the Mauna Lani North Course on the big island of Hawaii.
One of 20 teams in the competitive field, UCLA concluded the opening day in ninth place. The tournament continues with Round 2 on Friday and Round 3 on Saturday.
Auburn finished the opening day in first place (32-under 256), followed by second-place Stanford (27-under 261) and third-place Arizona State (23-under 265).
Bruins' junior Luciano Conlan finished in a tie for 18th place on the individual leaderboard, carding 6-under 66 on the first day of action. Freshman Josh Kim shot 5-under 67 (t-23rd), while senior Kyle An finished 3-under 69 (t-42nd). Sophomore Baylor Larrabee shot 2-under 70 on Thursday (t-60th), with a pair of birdies and no bogeys.
Rounding out the five golfers for UCLA was sophomore Trevor Garus, who shot even par (72).
Competing as an individual for the Bruins, sophomore Logan Kim carded 4-under 68. Both Logan Kim and Kyle An each registered an eagle on par-five holes. Logan Kim had one eagle, six birdies, two bogeys and one double bogey.
Conlan finished the afternoon with seven birdies and one bogey. He birdied three of his final four holes – No. 2, 4 and 5.
UCLA shot the same score in Round 1 on Thursday as they did in the same round last season (16-under 272). Over the past two seasons, the men's golf program has set a program record for 54-hole score in relation to par. Two years ago, the Bruins shot 45-under, while last season, UCLA finished at 47-under.
