Men's Basketball Outlasts Washington, 77-73

LOS ANGELES – The UCLA men's basketball team defeated Washington, 77-73, in a Big Ten Conference game inside Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom Financial on Saturday night.
UCLA (17-7, 9-4 Big Ten) had four players score in double figures. Trent Perry had a team-high 23 points on a perfect 3-of-3 from the outside. Tyler Bilodeau totaled 19 points. Donovan Dent (17 points and 10 assists) recorded his third double-double in as many games., while Eric Dailey Jr. recorded 14 points.
Wesley Yates III, Washington's leading scorer with 21 points, made a left-handed scoop layup to push the UCLA lead back to two points (75-73). Perry converted both of his free throw attempts in the following offensive possession to keep the Huskies at arm's length, sealing the game for the Bruins.
UCLA trailed the Huskies 34-30 at halftime. Washington held the lead from the 3:37 mark of the first half; however, a 9-0 Bruin run in the second half capped off by a Dailey jumper at the 12:37 mark gave UCLA the edge once more (49-45), a lead they would not relinquish for the remainder of the game.
The Bruins would go on a 7-0 run late in the second half, giving UCLA their largest lead of nine points (67-58). The team shot 54.5 percent from three-point range in the second half, while holding Washington to only 2-of-9 beyond the arc in the final frame.
Perry totaled 23 points in tonight's contest; the third time in his career he has recorded at least 20 points in a game. Perry also drew nine fouls tonight while committing none of his own.
Dent dished 10 dimes for the Bruins tonight, marking the 14th double-double of his career.
After a career-high night on Tuesday, Xavier Booker had a team-high 7 rebounds for UCLA.
Washington committed 13 turnovers tonight, while the Bruins only had 7. The plus-6 turnover differential tonight marks the highest for UCLA this season.

After falling down 5-0 early in the game, the Bruins kept the Huskies at bay to close the first half. During the closing 8:27 of the opening frame, the lead for either team never eclipsed four points.
UCLA will visit Michigan in a Big Ten Conference game at the Crisler Center next Saturday, Feb. 14. Game time is set for 9:45 a.m. (PT). UCLA's game against the Wolverines will be nationally televised on CBS.
