Women's Water Polo Rolls to 14-8 Win Against Fresno State
March 15, 2026 | Women's Water Polo
LOS ANGELES โ The second-ranked UCLA women's water polo team scored the first four goals and never looked back en route to a 14-8 non-conference victory against No. 12 Fresno State Sunday afternoon at Spieker Aquatics Center. The home win was the Bruins' third in four days.
Anna Pearson led UCLA (15-2) with four goals. Emma Lineback added her third hat trick in as many games, while Bia Mantellato, Genoa Rossi and Taylor Smith each scored twice for the Bruins. Hailey Andress and Riaan Bryant recorded two goals each to lead the Bulldogs (11-9). In the cages, UCLA's Joey Niz registered six saves and Fresno State's Katelyn Mobley had four.
Pearson, Lineback and Mantellato all scored before the first quarter's midway point. Katherine O'Dea then converted a penalty shot before the Bulldogs got on the board late in the frame.
It was Pearson again who got scoring underway in the second. Rossi answered a Fresno State goal with her first of the day to make the halftime difference 6-2.
Lineback struck to lead off the third. Smith's scored on a power play, but the Bulldogs rebounded with back-to-back successful efforts. Rossi snapped the mini run with under a minute left, taking advantage of another power play.
Goals came early and often in the fourth, with Pearson logging the first two. The teams would alternate the final seven goals, with multi-time scorers Lineback, Mantellato and Smith rounding out the Bruin total.
UCLA continues its homestand Saturday, March 21 against Harvard. Play begins at 1 p.m. PT.
