Men’s Golf in Seventh Place at The Goodwin, Hosted by Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. – The UCLA men's golf team had a strong opening day at The Goodwin on Thursday, hosted by Stanford University at Stanford Golf Club.
One year after winning the 54-hole, stroke play tournament, UCLA finished its first round in seventh place. The Bruins carded 4-under 276 through the first 18 holes, standing five strokes shy of third-place New Mexico and six strokes away from second-place Long Beach State. Stanford led the 30-team field after the first day of action, having shot 11-under 269.
Looking at the individual leaders, Bruins' junior Alex Papayoanou shot 2-under 68 (T-18) while senior Kyle An and freshman Josh Kim each finished at 1-under 69 (T-27).
UCLA freshman Tyler Loree shot even par on Thursday (par 70) and sophomore Baylor Larrabee shot 4-over 74.
Papayoanou had five birdies and three bogeys in the opening round. Kim finished with six birdies, three bogeys and one double bogey.
The Bruins will return to action with the second round scheduled for Friday, March 27. UCLA is expected to begin at approximately 8:05 a.m. (PT). Live scoring is available online, via Scoreboard powered by Clippd (link here).
