Women’s Rowing Claims Three Podium Finishes at Rocky Top Invitational

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – The Bruins finish up a competitive weekend in Tennessee, successfully earning first place in the 2V8+ race during Saturday's Final at Rocky Top Invitational.

UCLA started the competition out strong on Friday; first varsity 8+ and second varsity 4+ coming in first place to claim their lane assignments for Saturday's semifinals. The rest of the fleet continued to fight for their spots, placing second and third in other competitions of the preliminary round.

The Bruins brought the energy the next day during the semifinals round. UCLA's second varsity 4+ placed came in first place once again. The team stayed strong, holding out the middle of the pack, placing second in three of the remaining competitions, as well the second varsity 8+ placing third.

For Saturday afternoon's final, the Bruins came in fourth place in the third varsity 8+ with a final time of 6:55.450. In the next two following races, the second varsity 4+ placed second and the first varsity 4+ placed third.

The Bruins second varsity 8+ secured first place in the final, beating Iowa by two seconds. UCLA's first varsity 8+ ended the day in fourth place with a time of 6:39.165.
