UCLA at NCAA Outdoor Championships: Day Two
June 11, 2026 | Track & Field
EUGENE, Ore. โ Sophomore sprinter/hurdler Celeste Polzonetti had a standout showing in the women's 100m prelims to lead the Bruins Thursday on day two of the 2026 NCAA Championships at Oregon's Hayward Field.
Polzonetti finished third in qualifying โ and jumped up to No. 3 in school history โ after clocking in at 12.74 during Thursday's prelim races. Polzonetti earned an auto-bid into Saturday's 100mH final after finishing runner-up in her heat.
With the performance, Polzonetti has now set a PB in four consecutive outings dating back to the May 3 dual meet at crosstown rival USC. She finished under 13 seconds for the first time at that meet (12.98), and proceeded to drop time at Big Ten Outdoors and NCAA West First Rounds. She was the second-place finisher at Regionals and will be looking to secure First Team All-America honors for the first time in her career.
The rest of the UCLA's women's track contingent saw their seasons come to a close on Thursday night after failing to advance out of prelims.
The Bruins 4x100 relay squad of Kayla McBride, Naomi Johnson, Madison Fleming, and Taylor Snaer raced first on the night, placing 22nd with a time of 44.98.
Polzonetti was next, followed by Snaer who raced to a 23rd-place result at 23.51.
Finally, UCLA's 4x400 relay team of Johnson, McBride, Snaer, and Gabriella Taylor clocked in 24th with a time of 3:38.23.
The Bruins have no entries on Friday, so will next compete on Saturday. Entries include Polzonetti in the 100mH and Valentina Fakrogha in the high jump.
