UCLA Finishes Third in Learfield Directors' Cup

UCLA placed third in the 2025-26 Learfield Directors' Cup with 1199.25 points, recording its highest placement since finishing second in 2017-18. This is the Bruins' second-consecutive Top 5 showing after placing fifth a year ago.
Texas won its fifth Directors' Cup, totaling 1322.00 points to finish ahead of Stanford, which totaled 1,263.50 points. North Carolina placed fourth with 1166.75 points, and Virginia was fifth with 1,148.75. The Big Ten led all conferences with four teams in the Top 10 - No. 3 UCLA, No. 7 USC, No. 9 Michigan and No. 10 Ohio State.
The Bruins won three NCAA Championships - men's water polo, women's basketball and beach volleyball - in 2025-26, tying for most in the nation. UCLA also finished in the Top 5 in five other sports, placing second in men's golf, third in women's water polo and fifth in gymnastics, men's volleyball and softball. Women's tennis added a ninth-place finish.
Also adding to UCLA's point total in the Director's Cup were women's soccer, men's soccer, women's volleyball, men's basketball, women's swimming & diving, baseball, men's and women's golf, men's tennis and women's track & field.ย
A total of 19 sports are counted for the final standings, including the five countable sports (men's and women's basketball, baseball, women's soccer and women's volleyball), and the next highest 14 (maximum) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender. UCLA scored in all five countable sports, along with 15 additional sports. Men's track & field's score was removed because the Bruins had reached the maximum amount of counted sports.ย
UCLA Athletics enjoyed an outstanding 2025-26. In addition to the three NCAA championships, UCLA led all Big Ten schools with 11 conference titles - eight in the Big Ten and three in the MPSF. Winning regular season titles were men's water polo, gymnastics, women's basketball, men's volleyball and baseball. Capturing the conference tournament titles were men's soccer, gymnastics, women's basketball, men's volleyball, men's golf and baseball.ย
