2003-2004 In cross country, Rankin earned All-Region honors after finishing 24th (UCLA's No. 2 runner) at the West Regional Championships in a time of 30:23 ... He finished 25th at Pac-10 as UCLA's No. 2 runner in a time of 25:51.2 ... Season-best of 24:28.9 at the Pre-National Meet, placing 54th overall ... Won the UCSD Invitational in a time of 25:26.3 ... In outdoor track, at the NCAA Championships, he finished sixth in his heat, 13th overall, in the 1500m (3:47.75) ... Fifth at the West Regionals (3:46.02) and at the Pac-10, he was second in the 800m (personal-best 1:48.77) and fourth in the 1500m (3:44.53) ... Won the 1500m at the UCLA/USC Dual Meet with a personal best of 3:43.10 ...At the NCAA Indoor, Rankin ran on the Bruins' DMR (12th, 9:49.53, opening leg).
2002-03 -- Returning from a leg stress fracture, Rankin won the Big Wave Invitational (5000m) ... Ran a season best 24:46 (40th) at the Stanford Invitational ...Was the Bruins' No. 3 runner at the Pac-10 (45th) and NCAA West Region (52nd) ... In outdoor track, ran a personal best 3:47.66 in the 1500m ... Placed ninth (3:50.28) in the 1500m at the Pac-10 Championships and sixth (3:48.34) at the NCAA West Regional Championships.
2001-02 -- As a sophomore in cross country, Rankin, after placing eighth at the CS Fullerton Invitational on Sept. 1, developed a leg stress fracture ... He continued to have stress fracture problems for the remainder of the school season and received a medical redshirt for 2001-02 ... Rankin will have three years of eligibility remaining, beginning with the 2002 cross country season.
2000-01 -- As a true freshman, Rankin was UCLA's No. 3 runner at both the Pac-10 (24th) and NCAA West Region (24th) meets ... In track, Rankin won the 1500m (3:51.8) at the U. S. Junior National meet and in the USC dual (3:49.08) ... At the USA-Great Britain Junior dual meet on Aug. 18 in Trent, England, Rankin helped lead the U. S. men to a 106-88 victory by placing second in the 1500m (4:02.22) ... Ran personal-bests 1:51.57 (800m), 3:47.47 (1500m, team-leading) and 14:56.07 (5000m).
