    • Junior Stephanie Swenson (San Clemente, CA/San Clemente HS) of the softball team was selected the MET-Rx UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 22-28.

    Swenson pitched the Bruins to two victories this week, a 1-0 victory over Cal State Northridge and a 5-0 win over No. 5 Fresno State. In the game against Northridge, Swenson allowed just two hits, and in game one of a doubleheader sweep against Fresno State, she pitched three perfect and four hitless innings before surrendering the only Bulldog hit of the game to the leadoff batter in the fifth inning.

    For the week, she went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 14 innings pitched and two starts. She gave up just three hits, no runs, three walks and recorded nine strikeouts.

    After pitching just 17.2 innings as a sophomore in 1999, Swenson has already pitched 26 innings. This season, she is 3-0 with a 1.08 ERA. Two of her three victories have come against Fresno State.
