Senior outside hitter Kristee Porter (Tyler, TX/John Tyler HS) of the UCLA Women's Volleyball Team was selected as the UCLABruins.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 4-9. The honor is her second consecutive this year.
Porter led the Bruins in every offensive category en route to All-Tournament honors at the US Bank/Arby's Classic in Lincoln, NE. She averaged 5.56 kills per game, 3.00 digs per game and 0.89 blocks per game (all team highs) against No. 1 Nebraska, No. 12 Pepperdine and No. 20 Notre Dame.
On Friday against Notre Dame, Porter recorded her 1,000th career dig, becoming the first Pac-10 player and second Bruin in history to record both 2,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs.
On Saturday against Pepperdine, she set a new school record for highest attack percentage for a player with 20 or more attacks. She hit .741 with 20 kills on 27 attacks for her first career error-free match.
Against Nebraska Sunday, Porter passed Liz Masakayan for second place on the UCLA career kills chart with 2,051.
This is Porter's seventh career UCLABruins.com Student-Athlete of the Week honor, the most by any athlete in the award's three-year history.
