Nov. 8, 2024

- K Mateen Bhaghani connected on a 57-yard field goal in the second quarter, a personal long (previous: 54 yards vs. Oregon earlier this year) and the second-longest in school history. The UCLA school record is 60 yards by Ka’imi Fairbairn (vs. California, 2015).
- LB Carson Schwesinger recorded two interceptions, the first two picks of his career. He is the first Bruin this season with multiple interceptions in a game, and first overall since Alex Johnson had two at San Diego State in 2023.
- RB T.J. Harden became the first 100-yard Bruin rusher this season, posting 125 yards on 20 carries. It was his fourth-career game with 100+ rushing yards.
- Harden had a 29-yard carry in the second quarter, a season long.
- UCLA registered a season-high 211 rushing yards as a team (previous: 139 at Nebraska).
- LB Kain Medrano stripped Iowa QB Brendan Sullivan for a fumble in the second quarter. It was Medrano’s third-career forced fumble and second-career fumble recovery.
- Medrano posted a team-high nine tackles, matching a season high and leading the squad in stops for the second time this season.
- UCLA matched a season high with three defensive takeaways (also accomplished at Hawai’i). It also marked the first time this season the Bruins had multiple takeaways in back-to-back games (two at Nebraska).
- UCLA scored 17 points in the second quarter against Iowa, the team’s most points in a single quarter this season. The Bruins had previously scored 14 points in a quarter on two occasions.
- WR Logan Loya totaled a season-high 94 receiving yards on five catches, while reeling in his fourth TD reception of the season.
- Loya entered the game with a season-long catch of 18 yards, but eclipsed that with a pair of 20+ yard receptions on Friday. That included a 29-yard TD strike near the end of the first half.
- Loya extended his team lead in touchdown receptions with his fourth grab of the year, twice as many as any other Bruin.
- The Bruins’ 8.0 tackles for loss (TFL) were the team’s most since registering 11 in the season-opener at Hawai’i.
- QB Ethan Garbers threw for two touchdowns. It marked his third consecutive game with multiple TD passes, and ninth overall in his career. This marks the first time in Garbers’ collegiate career that he’s thrown multiple TD passes in three straight games.
- UCLA scored on a 45-yard touchdown drive in the second quarter. It was the shortest touchdown drive for the Bruins so far this season, with all other drives going at least 50 yards.
- UCLA is now 4-1 this season when committing the same, or fewer, number of turnovers as its opponent.
- Friday’s result marked UCLA’s first win this year at home (0-3 previously), in a night game (0-2 previously), or on natural grass (0-5 previously).
- UCLA improved to 4-1 this season when committing the same or fewer turnovers than its opponent.
- WR Titus Mokiao-Atimalala caught a two-yard touchdown pass, his first TD reception since 2022.
- DE Oluwafemi Oladejo notched 4.0 TFLs and 2.0 sacks on Friday, both doubling his previous career-bests. His 4.0 TFLs were the second-most by a Bruin in a single game this season (Schwesinger, 4.5 vs. Minnesota).
