Brian Garate joined the UCLA athletic performance team in August of 2024. He is responsible for developing and improving the athletic performance for Menโs Soccer, Track & Field, and Womenโs Rowing.
Prior to UCLA, Brian was an assistant athletic performance coach at CSUN, where he was responsible for Menโs Soccer, Menโs & Womenโs Volleyball, Cross Country, and the Throwers. His first experience as an athletic performance coach came at CSUN in 2018. He also interned at Cal State Fullerton in the spring of 2021, before becoming an Assistant Athletic Performance Coach at Long Beach State during the summer of 2021.
From the San Fernando Valley, he completed his Bachelors in Exercise Science at CSUN, and is completing his Masters in Exercise Science at Long Beach State.
Brian is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach through the NSCA and a certified USA weightlifting coach.
