Sabrina is headed into her 12th year at UCLA and her 16th year as a Learning Specialist. In her current role, she serves as the Senior Learning Specialist for Baseball, Softball, Gymnastics, Womenโs Swim and Dive, Menโs and Womenโs Golf, Menโs and Womenโs Tennis, and Menโs and Womenโs Water polo. She oversees the academic support programs for her assigned teams and holds individual weekly meetings with student-athletes to teach them how to set and work toward learning objectives, recognize how they best learn, and build and apply university-level skills. She assists students in developing and strengthening their skills in the areas of close reading, writing, test-taking, organization, time management, critical thinking, communication,and problem solving.
Sabrina also conducts mentor trainings that focus on learning strategies, and coordinates and conducts peer learning facilitator trainings. She also helps manage and facilitate student-athlete assessments and testing. Sabrina is responsible for proactively identifying learning concerns, and serves as a liaison to university resources including the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). She collaborates with many academic resources on campus including the Deanโs Office, First-Year Experience, Libraries, and Writing Programs.
Sabrina earned her undergraduate degree in Communication from University of California, San Diego whereshe graduated with honors. ย She also has her MFA in Poetry from San Diego State University. She is a published poet and a proud mother.
