No. 8 UCLA Falls To No. 7 Pepperdine, 5-3

WESTWOOD, Calif. - The No. 8 ranked UCLA women's tennis team suffered its second loss of the season Tuesday, falling 5-3 to No. 7 Pepperdine at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. UCLA now stands at 3-2 overall, while Pepperdine improves to 4-0.
At No. 1 singles, UCLA freshman Sara Walker improved her record to 19-4 on the season after downing Ipek Senoglu 6-2, 7-6(2). The Bruins received their only other singles point of the afternoon when fellow freshman Abigail Spears beat Anh Nguyen 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 4 position. ?Pepperdine won matches on court Nos. 2, 3, 5 and 6.
In doubles action, UCLA and Pepperdine split courts No. 1 and 2, while court No. 3 was suspended after UCLA freshman Zana Zlebnik suffered an injury. Court No. 2 was first to finish, as Pepperdine's Cintia Tortorella and Nguyen defeated the tandem of Spears and Elizabeth Schmidt 8-1. UCLA refused to give up the last point, however, as the team of Walker and Basica handled Pepperdine's duo of Senoglu and Paolo Palencia 8-2.
The Bruins return to action this Friday, Feb. 11 when they travel to Eugene, Ore. for a match with the Oregon Ducks beginning at 1:30 p.m.
