
Womens Water Polo Sinks No. 7 UCSB, 17-3, in MPSF Quarterfinals

Honolulu, HI- The No. 2 UCLA Bruins (15-3) defeated the No. 7 UCSB Gauchos (13-16) by a score of 17-3, in the quarterfinals of the MPSF tournament Friday evening. The Gauchos advanced to the quarterfinals by beating No. 10 UC Irvine, 6-1, earlier in the day. The Bruins came out firing, scoring five goals in both the first and second quarters and six more in the third. Sophomore Maureen Flanagan celebrated her return home by scoring a career and game-high five goals for the Bruins. Seven different players hit the back of the net for UCLA in all. The Bruins now move on to the semifinals against No. 3 USC (27-3) on Saturday at 5:00 pm HST. The other semifinal match places No. 1 Stanford (24-0) up against No.4 California (17-7), scheduled for 6:30 pm HST.
