Santa Barbara, Calif. - The 11th-ranked UCLA men's soccer team shut out UC Santa Barbara Friday night but was unable to score itself, settling for a 0-0 tie in front of 2,481 at UCSB's Harder Stadium.

The Bruins outshot the Gauchos 19-11 and forced Santa Barbara goalkeeper Dan Kennedy into a career-high six saves. Bruin keeper Zach Wells had to make only one save in his 120 shutout minutes.

UCLA was given a man-advantage for the last 55 minutes of the game when Gaucho defender Reuben Bates was red-carded for aggressive play in the 65th minute.

Tim Pierce totaled four shots for the Bruins, while Ryan Futagaki, Cliff McKinley and Adolfo Gregorio had three each.

The Bruins' record is now 3-2-2, while UCSB moves to 4-2-1.

UCLA will return home to face Loyola Marymount on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 3:00 pm on Frank W. Marshall Field.
