Box Score

Los Angeles, Calif. - UCLA freshman guard Noelle Quinn recorded a school freshman record fifth straight 20-point game to lead the Bruins past Arizona State by a score of 73-64 today in a game played in Pauley Pavilion on Nell and John Wooden Court before 2,327 fans. The win was the Bruins' fifth straight on the season.

Quinn, who finished the day with a game-high 24 points, moved out of a tie with Ann Meyers (1975-76) with her fifth straight 20-point scoring game. The 6-0 guard also made all 12 of her free throw attempts in the contest and now has a streak of 30 consecutive free throws, two shy of the school record of 32 held by Michelle Greco (2002-03).

Arizona State jumped out to the early lead in the contest and took an 8-0 lead with 18:06 remaining in the first half. UCLA got on the scoreboard at the 16:50 mark on a pair of Nikki Blue free throws. A basket by Kylan Loney gave ASU a 15-8 lead with 13:19 remaining. UCLA then outscored the Sun Devils 20-4 over the next seven minutes to go ahead 28-19 with 6:19 on the clock. Quinn had 10 of the Bruins' 20 points during the run. Arizona State never regained the lead in the game and went to the locker room at the half down by a score of 38-30.

UCLA started the second half on a 7-2 run, capped off by a pair of free throws by Quinn, and led 45-32 at the 17:07 mark. ASU narrowed the margin to as little as nine points on four occasions in the second half, the last time coming on a shot in the final seconds, but never got closer and dropped its second game of the road trip.

Quinn was joined in double figures for UCLA by Blue, who had 13, and by Lisa Willis, who totaled 16 points. UCLA's fifth-straight win improved its record to 14-10 overall and 9-6 in the Pac-10 conference. The Bruins will travel to the Bay Area and play next at California on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, UCLA will play at Stanford in a game to be televised on Fox Sports Net beginning at 3:00 p.m. The Bruins close out the regular season on Sunday, February 29, with a 2:00 p.m. game against USC in Pauley Pavilion.

Arizona State, which fell to 15-8 overall and 9-5 in the conference, was led by junior guard Loney, who scored 16 points, including four three-point shots. Also scoring in double figures were Emily Westerberg (11), Kristen Kovesdy (10) and Amy Denson (10). The Sun Devils had lost to USC on Thursday night by a 65-50 score.
