
Bruins Sweep Banana Slugs

The top-ranked UCLA men's volleyball team defeated UC Santa Cruz in three games Wednesday night to stretch its winning streak to five consecutive matches.
The Bruins (9-1) won 30-18, 30-14, 30-25 in 57 minutes before 317 fans in Pauley Pavilion. Santa Cruz, which had won three straight contests, fell to 5-5 overall.
All 14 UCLA players contributed, led by senior outside hitter J.T. Wenger who recorded 10 kills (.833) and added four digs and two block assists. Junior Paul Johnson added nine kills (.533), an ace and led the team with six block assists. Adam Shrader led the Bruins with 10 digs and sophomore setter Dennis Gonzalez recorded 31 assists.
Sophomore Sam Fullerton led the Banana Slugs with 11 kills (.588) and six digs.
The Bruins travel to Cal State Northridge Friday, Feb. 6 for a key MPSF match at 7 p.m.
