
Bruins Demolish Matadors in Three Games

Top-ranked UCLA demolished host Cal State Northridge in three games Friday night to record its sixth straight victory in MPSF men's volleyball action.
The Bruins won 30-18, 30-25, 30-24 in 83 minutes in front of 1,024 fans at the Matadome. The Bruins improved to 10-1 overall, 5-1 in league play. The Matadors, who had won three straight, fell to 8-4, 4-3.
Freshman opposite Steve Klosterman pounded 19 kills (.424) and junior quick hitter Paul Johnson added 15 (.565) and six total blocks. The Bruins out-hit the Matadors .458 to .087. UCLA also won the battle at the net by out-blocking CSN, 10.0-8.5.
UCLA senior Adam Shrader led all players with nine digs, and sophomore setter Dennis Gonzalez added 47 assists.
The Bruins return home next week to begin a four match homestand, beginning with a key conference match against Long Beach State on Wed., Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion.
