
Bruins Fall to Long Beach State in Three

The top-ranked UCLA men's volleyball team fell in three games to No.3 Long Beach State Friday at The Pyramid.
The 49ers won 30-25, 30-28, 30-27 in front of 1,434 fans. The victory raised Long Beach State's record to 17-4 overall, 12-3 in league play. UCLA fell to 17-4, 11-4. The Bruins fell to third place and now trail the 49ers by one loss in the MPSF race.
The 49ers put up a big block and held the Bruins to a .183 hitting percentage. The Beach out-blocked the Bruins 11.5-5.0 and hit .290.
Junior Jonathan Acosta led UCLA with 10 kills, followed by nine kills from Paul Johnson. Kris Kraushaar added seven kills and Chri Pena was limited to four.
Senior Scott Touzinsky led Long Beach with 19 kills and teammate Jeff Wootten added 15 (.433).
Next week the Bruins host UC Irvine on March 17 before taking a week off for final exams. They will host USC on Mar. 30.
