Bruins Fall to 49ers in MPSF Semifinals

The third-ranked UCLA men's volleyball team lost in three games to second-ranked Long Beach State in the MPSF semifinals at BYU on Thursday.
The 49ers won 30-25, 30-27, 30-28. UCLA ended its season with a 24-6 overall record. Long Beach State will advance to the championship match with a record of 27-5.
In the first semifinal, top-ranked BYU defeated No.4 Pepperdine, 3-2. The Cougars and 49ers will meet in the MPSF championship match Saturday at 7 p.m.
Senior Marcin Jagoda led the Bruins with 11 kills (.381) in relief of starter Steve Klosterman at the opposite position. Junior Paul Johnson added 10 kills (.625) and served two of UCLA's four aces.
Senior Scott Touzinsky recorded 14 kills to lead The Beach, and David Lee and Jeff Wootten each added 13 kills.
