Freshman Ryan Gordon, UCLA's only runner in the men's competition, placed 24th overall on Friday at the Titan Invitational, held on a campus course at CS Fullerton.

Gordon, who was the eighth overall finisher among collegians, finished the 8000m course in a time of 25:57.0. The men's winner was Fitsum Tesfa (unattached) in a time of 24:23.0. Since the Bruins only had one runner competing, UCLA was not in the team scoring (Cal Coast TC won the team event with 22 points). "Ryan ran a good race," said Bruin assistant distance coach Scott Abbott. "It's the best race of his freshman season." Gordon has run in five of UCLA's six invitationals this fall.

Looking Ahead
The remainder of UCLA's men's team will train through this weekend, preparing for the two upcoming championship invitationals. Next Saturday (Oct. 29), the Bruins will run at the 2005 Pac-10 Championships, hosted by the University of Arizona (Tucson) and on Saturday, Nov. 12, UCLA will compete at the 2005 West Region Championships, hosted by Stanford University.
