Junior Benjamin Kohlloeffel (Herne, Germany/Otto-Hahn Gymnasium) of the UCLA Men's Tennis Team was selected as the UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week (Jan. 8-16).
Kohlloeffel won yet another singles title last week, as he won five-straight matches to win the National Collegiate Tennis Classic in Indian Wells, Calif. Kohlloeffel, the tournament's No. 1 seed, defeated Pepperdine's Scott Doerner, 6-2, 7-6 in the finals. Kohlloeffel, who dropped just one set during the tournament, posted wins over Bruno Agostinelli (Kentucky), Darrin Cohen (Virginia), Marko Miklo (Virginia) and Eric Claesson (Mississippi) before beating Doerner in the final. By winning the title, Kohlloeffel earned a wild card into the qualifying of the Pacific Life Open, an ATP event held in Indian Wells every March.
This is Kohlloeffel's first UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of his career.
