Senior Marlon Patterson and redshirt freshman Mohamed Abdalla led the Bruin men's cross country teams on Saturday as both were top finishers for UCLA at the Pre-National Invitational and Cal Poly Invitational, respectively.
Patterson was the No. 1 runner in Terre Haute, IN as the men's squad placed 23rd at the Pre-National Invite. The senior finished 55th in a time of 24:37.4. Fellow seniors Marco Anzures (104th, 25:10.6) and Alex Crabill (107th, 25:11.9) were the No. 2 and 3 runners for the Bruins on Saturday. Freshman Zack Torres placed 138th in a time of 25:33.5 as the No. 4 runner, while junior Jake Matthews rounded out the top five in 149th-place (25:43.4).
In San Luis Obispo, Abdalla led the men's team to a third-place showing as he finished fourth in a time of 27:16.7. Sophomore David McDonald was eighth and the No. 2 runner, finishing in a time of 28:04.1. Freshman Alec Govi (28:30.8), sophomore Cory Primm (16th, 28:30.8) and freshman Steven Norton (17th, 28:46.5) rounded out the top five.
