Final Stats

Eighth-ranked UCLA swept unranked Ball State Wednesday night in Pauley Pavilion to improve its record against MIVA teams to 2-0 this season.

The Bruins won 30-26, 30-18, 30-17 in 87 minutes before 333 fans. The victory improved UCLA's overall record to 11-9. Ball State fell to 10-6 and will play at Pepperdine on Thursday night.

The Bruins dominated all facets of the match, out-blocking the Cardinals 14.0-5.0 and limiting BSU's attack to a .101 percentage. The hosts served seven aces, were aced just twice and totaled 12 more kills than their opponents.

Individually, sophomore Jack Polales continued his hot hitting, smashing 13 kills (.375) with a pair of aces and five block assists for 17.5 points to lead both teams. Senior Garrett Muagututia added nine kills and an ace for 10 points and Jeremy Casebeer recorded eight kills an ace and a career-high of seven total blocks. Senior setter Kevin Ker added 37 assists, two kills (.667), an ace and two block assists for 4.0 points.

On Friday Mar. 12, the Bruins will conclude the winter quarter schedule with a non-conference match against Loyola-Chicago at 7 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion.
