The No. 22 UCLA men's cross country team had a strong showing on Friday in Madison, WI as the Bruins competed at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational. Senior Kent Morikawa led the Bruin men to a 12th-place team showing, while on the women's side, Katja Goldring highlighted the Bruins as the top runner.

Wisconsin won the men's race, while Washington took home top honors on the women's side.

Morikawa was the No. 1 runner for UCLA, placing 43rd in a time of 24:25.2. Freshman Shayne Collins and sophomore Nohe Lema finished within seconds of each other as Collins was 59th (24:34.4) and Lema was 65th (24:36.3). Sophomore Dustin Fay was the No. 4 finisher for UCLA (24:51.8), while freshman Chase Zukerman rounded out the top five in 133rd-place (25:01.1).

The men's team finished 12th overall, finishing ahead of No. 10 Oregon and No. 16 Georgetown.

For the third consecutive meet, Katja Goldring took the lead for the Bruin women and was UCLA's No. 1 runner. In Madison, she finished 172nd overall with a time of 21:45.6. Four freshmen women rounded out the top five runners for the Bruins as Annie Mooney was 230th (22:11.1), Kelsey Smith was 244th (22:21.6), Bronte Golick placed 258th (22:28.9) and Hannah Valenzuela finished 267th (22:36.0). The Bruins finished 43rd overall as a team.

A 'B" squad of men and women will compete on Saturday at the Bronco Invitational in Santa Clara.
