Men's Tennis Downs No. 17 TCU, 4-1 to Round Out National Team Indoors
February 15, 2015 | Men's Tennis
The Bruins (6-4) won the doubles point in every match in Chicago, claiming the point again on Sunday when Joseph Di Giulio and Karue Sell outlasted Cameron Norrie and Guillermo Nuñez, 6-4. Sixth-ranked Mackenzie McDonald and Martin Redlicki, who won all three of their matches at the Indoors, accounted for UCLA's other doubles win, beating 24th-ranked Nick Chappell and Will Stein, 6-3.
Already up 1-0, the Bruins were able to move out to a 3-0 lead following straight-set singles wins from Sell (court No. 4) and McDonald (court No. 1). Although TCU (5-3) got on the board with a straight-set win of its own at court No. 6, UCLA closed out the match at the No. 2 spot, where 44th-ranked Dennis Mkrtchian downed 48th-ranked Nick Chappell, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.
When play was suspended, UCLA's Austin Rapp was down a break to Nunez, 3-4 in the third set at court No. 5, and Redlicki was up 5-4 on serve in the third over Stein at court No. 3.
