LAKEWOOD, Calif. - The 13th-ranked Bruins made it 2-for-2 for mercy rules on Saturday, finishing the day with a 10-1, five-inning victory over Portland State at Mayfair Park.

UCLA (16-5) recorded 10 hits, as senior Stephany LaRosa went 2-for-3 with two RBI, junior Brittany Moeai was 2-for-3 with three RBI and sophomore Gabrielle Maurice posted a pair of hits and runs scored.

In the circle, junior Paige McDuffee (3-1) started and went three innings, allowing an unearned run, one hit and two walks. Freshman Selina Ta'amilo tossed the last two shutout frames, striking out three, including a pair in the second, and giving up three hits.

Portland State (5-9) scored the game's first run thanks to a couple Bruin errors and a passed ball. Rayleen Pallan and Ashley Smith both reached on back-to-back errors by freshman Kylee Perez at third and a walk to Brit Hendrickson loaded the bases. After a force at home, a passed ball brought in Smith to make it 1-0 Vikings.

It was all Bruins after that though, sending 11 to the plate in the third and scoring six times and bringing up 10 to the dish in the fourth, netting four runs. In the third, UCLA scored all of its runs with two outs. With sophomore Delaney Spaulding on first, Perez drew a walk and LaRosa tripled both in with a missile to right to put the Bruins up 2-1. A Maurice double to right-center plated LaRosa with UCLA's third run and a single through the 3-4 hole by Moeai made it 4-1.

UCLA wasn't done though with its two-out rally. Freshman Maddy Jelenicki singled up the middle and senior Gracie Goulder doubled to deep center to bring home Moeai and Jelenicki to increase the lead to 6-1.

In the fourth, Perez drew a one-out walk and stole second, which was followed by a LaRosa free pass, with senior Jessica Amaral running for her fellow senior. A Maurice single to left-center loaded the bases for Moeai, who singled again through the right side to plate Perez and Amaral to make it 8-1, as Maurice took third. With senior Kaelin Sprawls running for Moeai, Jelenicki walked to load the bases. One out later, junior Allexis Bennett was hit by a pitch to force home Maurice with the Bruins' ninth run. A free pass to senior Ally Carda then plated Sprawls to make it 10-1.

The Bruins close out the weekend against Northwestern on Sunday at 11:15 a.m. The game will be played at the 49er Softball Complex on the campus of Long Beach State.
