ATLANTA, Ga. - Senior Bronte Law and freshman Clare Legaspi both won their matches in Wednesday's match play consolation versus #4 Stanford at the East Lake Cup, but the fifth-ranked Bruins lost 3-2 at the East Lake Golf Club to conclude the fall portion of their schedule.

Legaspi was the first Bruin out on Wednesday and never trailed in her match with Albane Valenzuela, winning 3 and 2. She claimed the first and fifth holes before Valenzuela got to 1-down on the sixth. Legaspi went back to 2-up with a win on the ninth, while back-to-back victories on #13 and #14 put the Bruin freshman 4-up. She lost the 15th, but a halve on #16 ended the match.

Law also didn't trail in routing Sierra Kersten, 8 and 6. She won the second, third, fifth, seventh and eighth holes to take a 5-up lead to the back-nine. Law then closed out Kersten with wins on #10, #11 and #12, as the UCLA senior made six birdies in her 12 holes.

Sophomore Lilia Vu's match with Shannon Aubert went the distance, but the Cardinal never trailed and claimed a 1-up win. Aubert took #2, #4 and #5 before Vu trimmed the deficit to 1-down with wins on #6 and #7. A victory on the 10th got the match to all square. Aubert won #12, but Vu again made it all square on #14. The two exchanged holes again, with Aubert winning #15, Vu taking #16 and Aubert claiming #17 to go 1-up to the last. A halve on the 18th wrapped up the match in favor of Stanford.

Freshman Mariel Galdiano fell 2 and 1 to Casey Danielson. Galdiano dropped the third hole before winning back-to-back on #6 and #7 to take a 1-up lead. Danielson got back to all square on the eighth, but Galdiano re-took the lead on #10. Danielson, however, won #11, #12 and #13 to go 2-up. Galdiano narrowed the gap to 1-down at the 15th, but lost the 16th, as the match concluded with a halve on #17.

Sophomore Bethany Wu dropped a 3 and 2 decision to Andrea Lee. Wu never led, as Lee won #2 and #5 before Wu posted her first win at #8. Lee made the turn with victories at #10 and #12, as the two halved the remainder of the holes.

The Bruins kick off the spring schedule at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates (Feb. 12-14).
