PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. - The fifth-ranked Bruins head a few miles south to kick off the 2017 portion of their schedule, traveling to the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Golf Club. The tournament runs from Sunday through Tuesday at the par-71, 6,017-yard layout. 

The Bruins' scoring fivesome will consist of junior Joo Seo, sophomores Lilia Vu and Bethany Wu and freshmen Mariel Galdiano and Clare Legaspi. Senior Hadas Libman will be playing as an individual. UCLA will go off the 10th tee on Sunday starting at 9:12 a.m. in the order of Seo, Legaspi, Wu, Galdiano and Vu, with Libman beginning on #10 at 9 a.m. Live scoring will be available here.

Joining the Bruins at PVGC are #2 Alabama, #4 USC, #8 Florida, #14 Arizona State, #16 Duke, #17 Northwestern, #18 Oklahoma State, #20 Arizona, #22 Ohio State, #26 Tennessee, #27 California, #33 San Diego State, #49 UNLV and #88 Washington (rankings according to Golfweek as of Feb. 2).

Galdiano leads the team in scoring average at 72.4 and finished the fall portion of the schedule with a second-place finish at the Nanea Pac-12 Preview (Oct. 24-25) and a T-5 showing in the one round of stroke play at the East Lake Cup (Oct. 31). Galdiano was 4-under (215) at Nanea, which included a final-round, 5-under 68. Five of her nine rounds this season have seen her go in red numbers.

Vu is just behind Galdiano in scoring average at 72.6, having finished 11th at East Lake (+2, 74). She opened the season with a second-place showing at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate (Sept. 25-27), shooting a 10-under 206, which included a 6-under 66 in round one and a 5-under 67 in round two. Vu has three under-par rounds, adding a 4-under 69 in the final round of the Nanea Pac-12 Preview, where she tied for 32nd. Vu also tied for fifth at the Stanford Intercollegiate (Oct. 14-15, +1, 143).

Wu ranks just behind Vu at a 72.9 scoring average, posting Top 20 finishes in all four tournaments. She tied for eighth at Stanford (+2, 144), tied for 14th at the ANNIKA (-5, 211), placed 15th at East Lake (+5, 77) and tied for 17th at Nanea (+5, 224). She has four under-par rounds, including a season-best, 5-under 67 in the second round of the ANNIKA.

Legaspi shot an even-par 72 at the East Lake Cup, which put her in eighth place. She followed that up with a pair of match-play victories over the next two days. Her best round of the season came in the second round of the ANNIKA when she shot a 2-under 70. Seo is entering her second tournament of the season and first as a scoring player. She was an individual at Nanea, tying for 59th (+26, 245). Like Seo, Libman is also playing in her second tournament of the season. She tied for 56th (+23, 242) at Nanea.

In four tournaments this season, the Bruins have a first-place finish at the rain-shortened Stanford Intercollegiate (+4, 572), a second-place showing at the East Lake Cup stroke play round (-1, 287), a third-place finish at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate (-20, 844) and a seventh-place showing at the Nanea Pac-12 Preview (+31, 907).

The Bruins have won this tournament four times (2004, 2008, 2012, 2013). UCLA also has had three medalists (Charlotte Mayorkas, 2004; Erynne Lee, 2013; Bronte Law, 2015).
