
UCLA Track Concludes Husky Classic

SEATTLE, Wash. – The UCLA track and field team wrapped up competition at the Husky Classic Saturday at the Dempsey Indoor on the campus of the University of Washington.
The Bruins set a lot of new personal bests on the final day in Seattle. In the field, Braheme Days placed second in the shot put with an indoor personal best of 62-6 while freshman Dotun Ogundeji also set a personal best with a throw of 62-5.75 to follow in third. In the women's shot put junior Torie Owers was the runner-up with a mark of 52-7.50.
In the women's long jump sophomore Jessie Maduka set a season best with a leap of 20-2.25 to finish second overall. Sophomore Sage Stone was fourth in the high jump at 6-9 while Cody Crampton was tied for fifth at 6-7.
In the triple jump Faith Anumba was fifth with a leap of 39-2.50 and Efe Agege closely followed in sixth at 38-3.50.
On the track, the freshmen duo of Suzie Acolatse and Anglerne Annelus set personal bests in the 60m. Acolatse was fifth with a time of 7.45 while Annelus followed in sixth at 7.57. In the men's 60m, sophomore Leon Powell equaled his season best with a 6.70 to finish third overall. Sophomore Misana Viltz was sixth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.09.
In the men's mile, Austin O'Neil clocked a big personal best of 4:00.19 to place eighth overall while Nolan Dickson also hit a personal best at 4:05.96.
UCLA will return to the indoor oval when it heads to Notre Dame, Ind., to compete at the Alex Wilson Invitational. The meet will be held on Saturday, Feb. 20.
