
Bruins Blank Huskies in Conference Opener, 4-0

LOS ANGELES โ The No. 10 UCLA men's tennis team posted a resounding win in its Pac-12 opener Friday, as it blanked No. 32 Washington at Sunset Canyon Tennis Courts, 4-0. Logan Staggs recorded the clinching point on Court 4 for the Bruins.
The No. 15 doubles team of Martin Redlicki and Evan Zhu got things rolling for the Bruins with a 6-3 win over the Huskies' pair of Jake Douglas and Piers Foley on Court 1. The win was the fifth in as many decisions for the duo, which improved to 11-2 on the dual-match campaign and 13-3 overall. The pair of Ben Goldberg-Maxime Cressy went on to pick up its second in a row, as it clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Amit Batta and Gal Hakak of Washington on Court 3.
No. 39 Redlicki took care of Enzo Sommer in straight sets on Court 2, 6-1, 6-2, to give the Bruins a 2-0 advantage. Cressy followed suit with a straight-set win of his own on Court 6, 6-1, 6-4, over the Huskies' Foley. Logan Staggs posted the clinching point shortly thereafter with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Hakak on Court 4 to give the Bruins their first win of conference play.
Staggs is now 11-2 in dual-match play and 13-4 overall. He has won seven of his last eight decisions and six in a row.
UCLA will have a chance to pick up its second win Saturday when No. 23 Oregon invades Sunset Courts. Play will begin at 3:00 p.m.
