UCLA Rowing Sweeps Races Versus LMU

MARINA DEL REY, Calif. – The UCLA women's rowing program swept all six races in a scrimmage contest against Loyola Marymount at Ballona Creek on Saturday morning.
Both schools faced decreasing tail current and increasing headwind in the scrimmage event.
UCLA's varsity eight crew won each of its three races, as the Bruins' second varsity crew came in second place. In the 1,500-meter race, the Bruins' varsity eight posted a time of 4:41.80, more than 10 seconds ahead of UCLA's second varsity crew (4:52.80).
The Bruins and LMU also raced a pair of 1,000-meter races in both the varsity eight and varsity four events.
UCLA's varsity four crew finished first in two of the three races, with the Bruins' second varsity posting one first-place finish. UCLA's V4+ logged a time of 5:31.50 in the 1,500-meter race, while the second varsity registered a total time of 5:37.90.
The Bruins will return to action at home versus Oregon State on Saturday, March 17. Next weekend's races will mark UCLA's final home event of the spring season.
