MONMOUTH, Ore. โ€“ Led by Robert Brandt and Christina Rice, the UCLA men's and women's cross country teams placed fourth and eighth, respectively, at the 2019 Pac-12 Championships at the Ash Creek Preserve course on Friday afternoon.

Racing amidst breezy and cold conditions, Brandt completed the 8K race in 23:11.9 to finish fifth overall to earn First-Team All-Conference honors. Also finishing strong were Garrett Reynolds (23:21.0) and Colin Burke (23:21.5), who went 10-11 on the way to collecting Second-Team All-Conference plaudits.

As a team, the 10th-ranked Bruins mustered an average time of 23:32, posting 84 points to finish behind 2019 conference champion Colorado, Oregon and Stanford. UCLA defeated No. 7 Washington, Washington State, California, Arizona and Arizona State.

Rice crossed the finish line at the 20:07.2 mark to place 17th and earn Second-Team All-Pac-12 honors. She helped the Bruins to an eighth-place finish in front of California, Washington State, Arizona State and USC. Stanford earned the team title by sweeping the top three spots in the race.ย 

Making her Pac-12 postseason debut, Emma Tavella finished 45th with a time of 20:58.6. She was followed by Jackie Garner (21:00.2), who snuck into the top-50 at 48th.
