UCLA Scores Season-Best 197.425 to Win At BYU

Provo, Utah – No. 5 UCLA recorded season-best team, bars and beam scores to win at BYU, defeating the host Cougars (195.875) and Utah State (194.750). The Bruins led from start to finish, recording a 49.375 on balance beam in the first rotation, hitting 6-for-6 routines, and ending with a season-high 49.525 on uneven bars.
Senior Kyla Ross recorded her second consecutive perfect 10 on uneven bars, the 21st of her illustrious career. She won the all-around for the third-straight meet, scoring a new season-high with a 39.750, and also took first place on vault (9.875), bars (10.0) and beam (9.975). Gracie Kramer won floor exercise with a career-high-tying 9.950.

Head coach Chris Waller shook up the beam lineup, moving usual anchor Ross to third for stability. Her score hardly suffered; she scored a season-high 9.975 in that position. Kendal Poston followed her with a career-high-tying 9.850, and Samantha Sakti rebounded from a fall last week to score 9.900. All six Bruin scores earned 9.800 or higher, as Grace Glenn contributed a 9.825, and Margzetta Frazier scored 9.800.

The Bruins extended their lead on floor exercise in rotation two, scoring 49.425. After Nia Dennis' leadoff 9.825 and Pauline Tratz's 9.675, Madison Kocian made her season debut and scored 9.850. Kramer followed her with arguably her best-ever routine and scored 9.950, and Frazier and Ross closed the set with 9.900s.
Ross led the Bruins to a 49.100 score on vault, hitting her 1.5 for a meet-winning score of 9.875. Dennis and Felicia Hano tied for second with 9.850s.
Buoyed by Ross's perfect 10, UCLA finished with a season-high 49.525 on uneven bars. Kocian's season debut on bars was a huge success, as she nailed her routine for a 9.950. Frazier added a 9.900, and Hano tied her season-high with a 9.850.
