
Lai T-2, Bruins T-3 With One Round to Go at The Prestige

LA QUINTA, Calif. - Junior Eddy Lai fired a 2-under 69 for the second day in a row at The Prestige presented by Charles Schwab and is in contention heading into Wednesday's final round. As a team, the Bruins shot a 5-under 279 on Tuesday at the Greg Norman Course at PGA WEST, bettering their first-round total by six strokes. UCLA is tied for third overall at 4-under 564, 10 shots back of first-place Texas (-14, 554).
Lai is tied for second at 4-under 138. He made four birdies, including two in a row to start his round on holes No. 1 and 2. Lai also gained strokes on No. 12 and 14 to go with two bogeys. He sits two shots back of the overall lead held by San Diego State's Leo Oyo (-6, 136).
Sophomore Bryan Wiyang Teoh is tied for 16th (-2, 140) following a 2-under 69 on Tuesday. He made four birdies on No. 5, 8, 9 and 12 and two bogeys. Junior Devon Bling is tied for 24th (E, 142), shooting an even-par 71 for the second day in a row. He made two birdies on No. 5 and 14 and two bogeys. Senior Hidetoshi Yoshihara is tied for 40th (+2, 144), posting a 1-under 70. He tallied three birdies on No. 3, 15 and 16 and two bogeys. Freshman Tony Hendricks is tied for 70th (+11, 153), shooting a 4-over 75, making three birdies (No. 1, 2 and 4), five bogeys and a double.
Final-round coverage of The Prestige will be aired here starting at 10 a.m. The Bruins' round will start at 8:40 a.m. off the first tee in the order of Hendricks, Yoshihara, Bling, Teoh and Lai.
At The Prestige individual tournament at Coral Mountain Golf Club, freshman Mason Greene is tied for 15th (-1, 143) after a 1-under 71 on Tuesday. He made five birdies on No. 11, 14, 16, 18 and 3, two bogeys and a double. Sophomore Ahmed Ali is tied for 20th (+3, 147), shooting a 2-over 74 on one birdie on the 16th and three bogeys. Sophomore Rory Feng is tied for 28th (+8, 152), posting a 7-over 79 on two birdies on No. 16 and 5, four bogeys, a double and a triple bogey.
The final round for the trio of individuals begins off the first tee for Greene at 7:33 a.m., Ali at 7:09 a.m. and Feng at 6:53 a.m.
