
Bling, Bruins Third After Day One in Vegas

LAS VEGAS - Junior Devon Bling is just one shot off the lead after 18 holes of the Southern Highlands Collegiate, shooting a 4-under 68 on Sunday at the Southern Highlands Golf Club.
Starting on the 10th, Bling made seven birdies on No. 13, 16, 18, 1, 3, 5 and 9 to go with three bogeys. He is in solo third, one back of Georgia's Davis Thompson and USC's Yuxin Lin (-5, 67).
As a team, the Bruins are in third place after posting a 5-over 293. UCLA is six behind first-place USC (-1, 287) and one back of second-place Texas (+4, 292).
Senior Hidetoshi Yoshihara was also one of nine golfers to shoot under par on Sunday. He posted a 1-under 71 on birdies on No. 13 and 5 and one bogey. Sophomore Bryan Wiyang Teoh and freshman Tony Hendricks are both tied for 40th (+5, 77). Teoh made a birdie on the fifth, four bogeys and a double, while Hendricks posted two birdies on No. 16 and 9, five bogeys and a double. Junior Eddy Lai is tied for 59th (+6, 78), making a birdie on the second, three bogeys and two doubles.
The Bruins will start their second round on Monday at 10:40 a.m. off the first tee in the order of Lai, Hendricks, Teoh, Yoshihara and Bling.
