
Bruins Open March at Southern Highlands

LAS VEGAS - The Bruins open the month of March at the Southern Highlands Golf Club, taking part in the Southern Highlands Collegiate. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played Sunday through Tuesday at the par-72, 7,374-yard layout.
The starting fivesome for UCLA will be senior Hidetoshi Yoshihara, juniors Devon Bling and Eddy Lai, sophomore Bryan Wiyang Teoh and freshman Tony Hendricks. The Bruins open the tournament on Sunday at 9:35 a.m. off the 10th tee in the order of Hendricks, Yoshihara, Teoh, Bling and Lai.
Joining the 22nd-ranked Bruins and host UNLV in the 15-team field are No. 1 Pepperdine, No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 3 Georgia Tech, No. 5 Texas Tech, No. 7 Duke, No. 8 Texas, No. 10 SMU, No. 16 Georgia, No. 26 Florida, No. 28 New Mexico, No. 36 USC, TCU and UCF.
The Bruins have finished seventh in each of their two spring events, the Southwestern Invitational (+23, 887, Jan. 27-28) and The Prestige (-3, 849, Feb. 17-19). UCLA also placed third at both the Marquette Intercollegiate (-5, 859, Oct. 6-8) and the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational (-35, 817, Nov. 1-3) and fifth at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate (+8, 872, Oct. 18-20).
Lai has been the top finisher for the Bruins in three of five tournaments, including a victory at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate (-7, 209). In 15 rounds, he has been under par in 10 of them, including eight in the 60s. Lai has been under par in four of his five tournaments, combining to shoot 12-under on the season. He tied for 10th at The Prestige (-4, 209).
Bling has three Top 20s and five under-par rounds, tying for 12th at Ka'anapali (-8, 205). Teoh tied for sixth at Ka'anapali (-11, 202), one of his three Top 20s. Five of his six under-par rounds this season have seen him shoot in the 60s. Yoshihara tied for 10th at Marquette (-2, 214). He has five under-par rounds, including a 69 and a 68 at Ka'anapali. Hendricks was third at the Providence Seabeggar Invitational (+9, 225), closing with a 2-under 70.
