Women Seventh, Men Eighth at Pac-12 Championships

University Place, Wash. – UCLA Cross Country completed competition at the 2023 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships early Friday afternoon. The Bruin men placed eighth in the Conference, and the women came away with a team-seventh place.
The women's team had all five scorers cross in the top 50 runners in the race, which took place at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Wash., for the 2023 Conference meet.
The day began with the men's 8,000-meter race; the gun went off at 10:10 a.m. for the competition broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks. Junior Mateo Bianchi led the way for the Bruins, finishing 47th in the Conference after crossing the line in 24:23.9. The junior recorded his third-consecutive race as a top-two scorer for UCLA.
UCLA women's cross country lined up at the start to compete in the women's 6,000-meter race at 11:10 a.m. at Chambers Creek Regional Park. Junior Mia Kane paced her way to a team-best finish (20:20.4), crossing the line in 31st place at the Washington-hosted Conference meet. Four Bruins followed closely behind – all UCLA women's cross country scorers finished in the top 50 of the race. Sophomore Chloe Browne and junior Angelina Shandro rounded out the top three for the Bruins. Freshman Brooke Johnston clocked a season-best mark (20:45.4) as UCLA's final scorer.
