Bruins Prepare for Home Opener against Colgate Sunday

LOS ANGELES – No. 5/6 UCLA (1-0, 0-0 Big Ten) kicks off its November home slate against Colgate (2-0) on Sunday to open Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom for the season.
The Bruins return from Paris, France, after finishing the Aflac Oui-Play doubleheader with a win over No. 17 Louisville and a 1-0 record to begin the year.

MATCHUP HISTORY: UCLA vs. Colgate
• Sunday's home opener will be the second meeting between the Bruins and the Raiders in program history.
• The teams last met in the consolation game of the 2011 Holiday Inn Thanksgiving Classic in Northridge, Calif., as the then-No. 25 Bruins claimed a 68-48 victory.
LAST TIME OUT: vs. No. 17 Louisville (W, 66-59)
• Despite 22 turnovers, No. 5 UCLA came back from Paris with a win at the Aflac Oui-Play opening night doubleheader against the Louisville Cardinals.
• Junior Lauren Betts played 36 minutes and had a dominant performance; UCLA's center recorded her first double-double of the season (14th career) with 18 points and 13 rebounds. She also threw a career-high five assists and swatted four shots in the win.
• Junior forward Timea Gardiner was UCLA's spark off the bench; the Oregon State-transfer was lights out from distance, shooting 5-for-7 from 3-point land to finish with 15 of UCLA's 23 bench points.
• Junior Londynn Jones was the only other Bruin to find the bottom of the net from beyond the arc, shooting 3-for-8 in her 3-point attempts (13 PTS, 4-4 FT).
• Freshman point guard Elina Aarnisalo and junior forward Janiah Barker saw their first minutes for UCLA in the opener, contributing 8 points each in their first appearances with the Blue and Gold.
2025 EUROBASKET QUALIFIERS
• Graduate student Angela Dugalić is currently representing Serbia in Group G of the FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers in Europe. The team is 3-0 in competition following two wins in November 2023 and a win over Portugal on Thursday (W, 71-37). Serbia plays its second group stage game (fourth in qualifying tournaments) against Ukraine on Sunday in Latvia; Dugalic is expected to return for Tuesday's matchup against Pepperdine.
• The Serbian national team has played one game in Serbia for this section of the qualifying tournament (previous: Nov. 9, 2023 - W, 82-40 vs. Ukraine; Nov. 12, 2023 - W, 103-60 vs. North Macedonia).
• Dugalic scored her tournament-high 17 points (7-14 FG) against North Macedonia on Nov. 12, 2023. She is averaging 11.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals over her three appearances. She scored 9 points in Thursday's win over Portugal and added 8 rebounds and 3 steals to the box score.
• The Serbian forward is expected to miss time in early February for the final two qualifying group phase games take place (Feb. 6, 2025 - vs. North Macedonia; Feb. 9, 2025 - vs. Portugal).
